Job summary

OhioHealth's Sterile Processing department is hiring a Night Shift Sterile Processing Technician (Non-Certified) to support decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and endoscopes. You will prepare and package instrumentation, run quality control checks, and maintain records for cases while providing service to operating rooms and external customers.

This role requires associate degree or equivalent, strong customer service and basic computer skills, and adherence to

Qualifications

• Experience handling decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Knowledge of steam and chemical sterilization indicators.
• Ability to document and monitor sterilization processes per standards.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disinfect and clean various reusable surgical instruments using mechanical or handwashing methods.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes (steam and chemical) and document indicators and monitoring.
• Enter, search and retrieve instrument data in the instrument tracking system for scheduled cases or requests.
• Incorporate infection control guidelines when transferring, storing and transporting sterile packages.
• Interact with vendors and surgical reps for loaner trays and CEUs.
• Follow AAMI and AORN standards and promote best practices.
• Provide customer service to operating rooms and external clinics; support fast, accurate responses.
• Assist in training peers and promoting safety, quality, and efficiency in the Sterile Processing department.
