Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician-Non-Certified to perform decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments, endoscopes and related equipment in a dynamic operating room support role. Responsibilities include instrument tracking, packaging, quality control, and collaborating with operating rooms and external customers.

A minimum of an Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or GED is required, plus strong customer service and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
Basic computer skills are required.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform basic math.
Working knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards.

Responsibilities

Decontaminate, disinfect and clean varying reusable surgical instruments, using steam or chemical methods.
Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes and documentation.
Enter, modify and search instrument tracking information for cases.
Transfer, store and transport sterile packages following infection control guidelines.
Interact with vendors and surgical reps for loaners and CEUs.
Adhere to industry standards and best practices; ensure safety, quality and efficiency.
Assist in the education and training of peers in a high reliability organization.
