Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) to deliver strength-based, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction focused support to young people within a multi-disciplinary team in Montclair, NJ.

The YESS will lead youth engagement, activities, and progress toward success plan goals, including crisis intervention, documentation, and facilitation of activities, while maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field.
• Experience with youth 18–24 affected by homelessness or trafficking preferred.
• Knowledge of public benefits in NJ.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Valid NJ driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide unconditional positive regard to young people.
• Support case management and help youths achieve success plan goals.
• Engage youth in daily activities and outreach.
• Document intake, transitions, and progress in HMIS/ETO.
• Provide crisis de-escalation as needed.
• Cover front desk and transport youth with agency vehicles.
• Assist with fundraising events as required.
