Job summary

Drake-Williams Steel seeks an experienced welder to assemble structural and plate components per shop drawings and DWS specifications. You will read shapes, sizes, tolerances, and welding symbols, ensuring weld quality according to AISC codes.

Responsibilities include preheating, cutting, cleaning welds, fabricating sub-pieces, and moving materials with cranes and forklifts. You must pass company welding and fitting tests and maintain AWS certification as required.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret shop drawings and welding symbols.
• Welding experience in structural steel fabrication (GMAW/FCAW).
• Maintain AWS certification for 1-inch plate in flat position.
• Pass Drake-Williams Steel tests for shop drawing interpretation and weld processes.

Responsibilities

• Weld steel parts for structural, plate, and miscellaneous assemblies per shop drawings and DWS specs.
• Identify shapes, sizes, tolerances, and ensure fit per weld symbols and AISC code.
• Preheat or cut pieces with a torch when required and clean welds.
• Operate forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes to move materials.
• Attend meetings and work scheduled hours reliably.
