Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an admissions clerk to perform clerical, receptionist, dispatching and admitting duties in support of the patient care department. Night shift; 7p-7:30a. Scheduled weekly hours: 36.

Duties include greeting patients, entering admissions data in the EPIC system, coordinating bed assignments and transfers, and arranging follow-up appointments. The role requires a high school diploma and prefers graduates of a Medical Assistant program or

Qualifications

• Reading, writing and comprehension of simple instructions required.
• Good verbal and writing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and admitting patients upon arrival to the department.
• Completing admitting information in computer.
• Locating and assigning beds.
• Notifying referring physician of admission when requested.
• Transferring patient information between locations and departments.
• Completing transfer functions in the computer when moving patients.
• Dispatching support staff for patient transfers.
• Handling clerical discharge functions and processing discharge in the computer.
• Scheduling follow-up appointments and arranging transportation for patients.
• Maintaining department communications and patient records with accuracy.
