Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II in Illinois to set up and take down lane closures and safeguard projects on state highways and other roadways. You will redirect traffic for workers or survey crews and operate equipment to support installation and removal of safety devices.

This non-exempt role requires a valid driver’s license, 1–3 years in traffic control, ability to pass background checks and DOT drug testing, and willingness to travel statewide, including

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License.
• 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 in field hours in traffic control.
• Must pass background check, including motor vehicle records check.
• Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear proper safety equipment (boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, vest).
• Able to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained.
• Willingness to travel statewide, with occasional overnight stays, and work nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT and TMA vehicles to and from projects and work sites.
• Place temporary construction signs and set up traffic cones and other safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone to ensure items remain in place and load/unload items at shift start/end.
• Perform shop maintenance and repair of equipment, following safety rules and procedures.
• Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
