Job summary

UNC Health Care’s Labor & Delivery unit seeks a Surgical Technologist I to support sterile technique and procedural setup in a Level II center. You’ll assist surgeons and nurses, ensure safe operating room conditions, and help with instrument handling for high-risk and normal deliveries.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, counting instruments, and adhering to aseptic methods. The role requires 0–3 years of experience and BLS certification, with on-site night shifts in Clayton, NC.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Military Training in Surgical Technology.
• 0–3 years of experience as a surgical tech.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Successful completion of UNC Health Surgical Technologist competencies.
• Strong communication skills and customer service relations.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical skill duties in operating room areas per standards.
• Maintains and sterilizes specialty instrumentation.
• Follows aseptic technique and reports contamination or errors.
• Labels drugs and solutions and tracks quantities.
• Assists surgeon and nursing staff during intraoperative care.
