Job summary

Whirlwind Steel Buildings & Components in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Structural Welder for our night shift. You will weld structural steel components using FCAW while following ASW D1.1 quality standards.

Responsibilities include reading shop details, setting up equipment, performing FCAW welds in multiple positions, inspecting welds, operating overhead cranes, and maintaining a safe, efficient work pace to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current welding certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of structural welding experience.
• Experience with FCAW welding.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards.
• Experience with overhead cranes preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop details to determine welding requirements.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment according to specifications.
• Perform FCAW welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy.
• Operate overhead cranes and welding equipment safely.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Meet daily production and quality goals.
