Qualifications

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine material locations and sizes.
• Strong ability to fabricate or assemble metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Able to position steel members with hoisting equipment and ensure alignment.
• Understands safety rules and can perform tasks in a dusty/noisy environment.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine material needs and placements.
• Fabricate and assemble metal parts like frames, beams and girders.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units using cranes or hoists.
• Verify alignment of steel members using plumb bobs, laser, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces with appropriate tools.
• Position and bolt/brace steel members for final assembly.
