Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is seeking a skilled individual to join its steel erection team in Port Arthur, TX. You will read blueprints, fabricate steel components, and supervise hoisting operations to position structural members according to plans.

The role requires rigorous safety adherence, ability to work around heavy equipment, and accurate measurement and placement of steel structures on site.

Qualifications

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Possesses strong working knowledge for the position and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting; uses cranes or signaling hoisting equipment to move members.
• Verifies alignment of structural steel using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Positioning steel members and securing them for final riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials.
