Job summary

Wellstar Health System seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure instruments and supplies meet the highest safety standards. You will process, decontaminate, wrap, and store instruments in Central Sterile or Materials Management, coordinating with OR staff to support surgery readiness.

Expect to operate washers and sterilizers, monitor performance, and document testing results. Acknowledging supervision, you’ll contribute to safety, quality, and patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year sterile processing experience in a hospital and/or outpatient setting.
• Must be able to retain knowledge of identification and handling requirements of instruments.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Collects, receives, cleans, and decontaminates instruments and equipment per hospital policies.
• Operates washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner for decontamination.
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness and proper working order, and ensures traceability.
• Monitors sterilizers and documents results; notifies if malfunctions occur.
• Distributes supplies and sterilized items to hospital units in a timely manner.
