Job summary

The Sterile Processing Technician at Wellstar Health System supports high-quality patient care by ensuring critical instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use across departments. You will operate washer-decontaminators and sterilizers, inspect instruments, and coordinate with OR teams to maintain supply readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.
• CRCST-P or CSPDT-P certification within 1 year preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of central supply/sterile processing experience.
• Must be able to communicate in English; basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of instrument handling and sterilization procedures.

Responsibilities

• Process and decontaminate instruments and equipment per hospital policies.
• Operate washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness and working order.
• Scan barcodes and document tray counts.
• Maintain stock, pack supplies, and deliver sterile items.
