Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Sterile Processing Tech II to support the Surgical Services team. The role emphasizes aseptic techniques, sterilization and instrument processing to ensure patient care areas receive approved supplies.

Hours are 11:00pm-7:30am, 40 hours weekly, with responsibilities including instrument decontamination, assembly of instrument trays, and compliance with infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Certification by NICHSPD, IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
• Experience with surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and their applications.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of the Tray Tracking system.
• Decontaminate, disinfect and sterilize surgical instruments per policy.
• Inspects, sorts and processes surgical instrumentation.
• Assembles instrument sets according to count sheets.
• Prepares instrument trays for sterilization and wraps as needed.
• Maintains logs and records test results for sterilization equipment.
• Operates sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, and related equipment.
