Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Sterile Processing Tech II to support the hospital in Chicago. The role operates in a high-standard sterile processing environment with a schedule of 7:00am-3:30pm, 40 hours per week.

The Tech II will decontaminate, sterilize, and inspect surgical instruments, maintain instrument sets, and ensure compliance with infection control policies and regulatory standards. This role requires National certifications and robust instrument knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Current certification by NICHSPD or IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
• Experience with surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes including aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Operates Tray Tracking system in assigned areas.
• Decontaminate, disinfect and sterilize surgical instruments per policies.
• Inspect, sort and process surgical instrumentation per procedures.
• Assemble and organize instrument sets according to count sheets.
• Prepare instrument trays for sterilization and wrap appropriately.
• Perform quality assurance and biological testing on equipment and document results.
• Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer-decontaminator and related equipment.
• Maintain logs and record test results; report adverse results.
