Job summary

HomeFirst seeks a Temporary Shift Supervisor for the Overnight Warming Locations in San Jose. You will oversee the safety, staffing, and service delivery for women and families during winter, supervising Resident Advocates and Coordinators and coordinating with the Program Manager.

Ideal candidates have experience with unhoused populations, strong de-escalation skills, and excellent communication. The role is grave shift, temporary through April 2027, with full-time benefits and a $39.62 hourly

Qualifications

• AA Degree or equivalent in social services or related field.
• Three years of field experience in social services or homelessness programs.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals and respectful engagement.

Responsibilities

• Direct client service and supervise Resident Advocates/Coordinators.
• Ensure safety, security, and program compliance at the shelter site.
• Assist with intake, referrals, and reporting; maintain HMIS documentation.
• Oversee staffing, schedules, PTO requests, and timecards.
• Provide staff coaching, training, and performance feedback.
• Respond to crises with de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure shelter setup for events.
