Job summary

City Rescue Mission of Lansing is seeking a dedicated Shelter Security team member to monitor access, perform rounds, and enforce safety policies across the facilities during the midnight to 8am shift. You will interact with guests, staff, and volunteers with firmness and compassion, ensuring a respectful environment while maintaining security standards.

This full-time role requires basic computer skills, a high school diploma, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent- Required.
• Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite- Required.
• 1 Year Security Experience- Preferred.
• CPR, AED, and NARCAN training- Preferred.
• Ability to learn a new computer program within 30 days of introduction.

Responsibilities

• Monitor everyone entering the shelter and verify authorization.
• Use body cams and safety tools to ensure guest and staff safety.
• Complete facility rounds to ensure security and order.
• Assist staff with de-escalation and escort disruptive individuals off premises.
• Be liaison for emergency services providing pertinent information when needed.
• Implement safety measures such as no trespass lists and access controls.
• Assist with incoming communication and maintain organized workspace.
• Honor shelter policies and participate in required trainings.
• Demonstrate Christ-like conduct, share the gospel, and pray with guests when appropriate.
