Job summary

ChristianaCare in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 6 South Stepdown Unit (6SS) to work 36 hours per week on the Night Shift (7p-7a). The role includes direct patient care, collaboration with hospitalists and specialists, and patient/family education.

A BSN is required, with a commitment to obtain BSN within three years; BLS is mandatory and ACLS within six months is preferred. Sign-on bonus potential applies.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years from date of hire can be considered with relevant experience.
• Registered Nurse with 2 years of experience; telemetry experience a plus.
• BLS required.
• ACLS preferred. Must commit to obtaining ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• Progressive Care or Gerontology Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with hospitalists, specialty consultants and the transitional nursing staff; assess patient’s physical and emotional status, health history, practices, and patient/family knowledge.
• Manage a team of 3 to 4 medical or surgical patients per shift; collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to reach healthcare goals.
• Plan nursing care to promote patient wellness and provide patient/family education about disease and treatment.
• Monitor patients, manage emergencies, and provide ongoing support and education to patients and families.
