Job summary

Laredo Medical Center is seeking an RN for the Step-Down Unit on night shifts. The role provides patient-centered care through the nursing process, coordinating with physicians and the care team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The RN will assess patients, administer medications, respond to emergencies, and educate patients and families while maintaining infection control and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting.
• RN licensure is required for practice in the state.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and delivers patient-centered care per nursing process.
• Performs thorough patient assessments and documents findings.
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors side effects.
• Assists physicians during procedures within competency.
• Develops and evaluates individualized care plans.
• Responds to medical emergencies and participates in CPR/Code team activities.
• Documents care in the medical record and ensures patient and family education.
• Maintains infection control protocols and safety standards.
