Job summary

North Oaks Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Orthopedic-Neurosurgery unit in Hammond, LA. This full-time position shifts 7p-7a, requiring compassionate, competent nursing care aligned with hospital standards.

The RN must graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold an active LA RN license. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient assessment, QA participation, and adherence to policies. Strong communication with the care team is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current LA RN license.
• Membership in a professional organization is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Insure the maintenance of quality patient care.
• Utilize nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) for each patient on an individual basis.
• Assist with QA audits.
• Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Document patient response to medication and procedure, using vital sign record, nurses’ notes, and any other form as appropriate.
• Monitor patient receiving IV conscious sedation as per policy.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures for self and personal under supervision.
• Adhere to acceptable dress code and report incidents and injuries.
• Demonstrate professional manner and maintain attendance per policy.
• Assist department manager in maintenance of policies and procedures; schedule assignments of personnel.
• Promote satisfactory relationships, share knowledge with others, attend committee meetings and in-services, maintain certifications and familiarity with hospital safety codes.
