Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Patchogue, NY seeks a Registered Nurse for the Med-Surg 2 North unit. The role focuses on professional nursing care aligned with physician plans, ensuring comfort and well-being through collaborative, holistic approaches.

Responsibilities include data collection, initial assessments, care planning, and discharge integration. Requires NYS RN license, BLS, ACLS, with PALS preferred for ED. Per Diem experiences vary by unit; full-time night shift available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (two-year).
• Current NYS RN license required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification required; PALS preferred for ED roles.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient’s presentation.
• Record data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of age/cultural needs of patients served.
• Perform ongoing assessments per department policy.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
• Communicate expected outcomes to patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Develop a plan of care with prescribed interventions to attain outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.
