Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg-2 North, full-time night shift. The RN will provide professional nursing care per physician plans, assess needs, implement care, document progress, and collaborate with the health team to support patient and family wellbeing.

The successful candidate will participate in orientation and ensure continuous, holistic patient care. Current NYS RN license and BLS are required; ACLS and related certifications may be needed for ICU,

Qualifications

• Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS often expected depending on unit.
• Ability to care for diverse patient populations and age groups.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data with patient and family involvement.
• Performs initial assessments based on patient presentation.
• Maintains and documents the care plan and progress.
• Delivers nursing care per physician treatment plans.
• Educates patients and families and coordinates with care team.
• Participates in orientation of new employees.
• Ensures safety and prepares discharge plans.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
• Maintains records of care and outcomes.
• Adapts care for age-specific and cultural needs.
