Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ, seeks a Per Diem Labor & Delivery RN for night shifts. You will monitor fetal/metal status, coach families, and assist doctors through labor and birth.

Requires 2+ years in Labor & Delivery, NJ RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, NRP, ASN or Nursing Diploma, and strong communication. Per diem with weekend coverage; pay range $48.29-$65.06 hourly.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• ASN or Nursing Diploma from an accredited Nursing Program.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability and must be willing to meet the needs of the unit.
• Proficient computer skills.
• ACLS Certification.
• NRP Certification.
• Intermediate EFM.
• Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring the baby's heart rate and mother's blood pressure, timing of contractions, assisting with medications and epidurals, identifying complications, aiding in labor induction and newborn preparation.
• Administers intrapartum medications safely including tocolytics, oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin.
• Performs bedside urine testing.
• Uses aseptic technique and infection control in care.
• Handles instruments safely and effectively.
• Performs triage assessment.
• Provides intrapartum care per orientation competencies.
• Recognizes abnormal signs and initiates nursing actions.
• Contributes to care during delivery, including circulatory and scrub roles.
• Applies thermoregulation principles to newborn care.

Education

ASN or Nursing Diploma from an accredited Nursing Program

BLS from the American Heart Association

ACLS Certification

NRP Certification

Intermediate EFM

Strong communication and organizational skills

Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
