Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Joint and Spine Unit on a 12-hour night shift (7pm–7am). The RN plans and provides professional nursing care per standards, collaborating with surgeons, OT/PT, and case managers to educate patients and support safe transitions home.

Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program, MD/Compact RN licensure, BLS, and at least one year in acute care; BSN/MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). If the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain within a specific time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.
• At least one year of RN experience in an acute care setting; rehab/surgical experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with the patient, family and healthcare team.
• Provide education to post-surgical Joint & Spine patients.
• Interfaces regularly OT/PT/Case Management to enhance the patient experience and transition patients to home setting (admission/discharges/transfers).
• Ability to collaborate with patient in the proper management of pain.
