Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Hospital Observation Unit on the night shift. The RN provides direct patient care, develops care plans, administers medications, and contributes to infection control and patient education in a fast-paced unit.

Qualifications include possession of or eligibility for a NYS RN license; preferred BSN and at least one year of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.
• Only licensed nurse experience in an acute care facility will be counted toward RN1 experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when skills are required and administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/Clinician.
