Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care on the Night Shift in the Medical Intermediate unit. You will follow established policies and collaborate with the inter-professional team to plan and deliver patient care.

The role requires completion of an accredited nursing program and current RN licensure, with BLS for Health Care Providers. Regular, full-time employment with competitive benefits is offered in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
• No experience required.
• State RN licensure (WI) or compact state accepted.

Responsibilities

• Uses standards of medical-surgical nursing practice to increase quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family, and significant other(s).
• Establishes effective relationships and advocates for the patient to develop a care plan.
• Utilizes nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate plan of care and patient outcomes.
• Develops assessment and management strategies considering multiple dimensions of human responses to health problems.
• Demonstrates knowledge of illness impact on patient’s physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure status.
• Coordinates with patient, family, and inter-professional team to assess needs, plan interventions, provide care, and evaluate outcomes.
• Communicates to support collaborative decision making that is culturally sensitive and ethically sound.
• Educates patient and family about measures to promote or restore health and comfort.
• Mentors and role-models for nursing colleagues and students to foster a healthy work environment.
• Applies evidence-based practice to nursing care aligned to patient age and department scope of service.
• Works safely and remains alert.
• May perform point-of-care testing according to policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
