Job summary

St. Joseph Institute for Addiction in Port Matilda, PA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care for clients in an addiction treatment setting.

The RN will supervise LPNs/CNAs, develop care plans, assess patients, administer medications, and document thoroughly while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. A valid RN license, CPR, and psychiatric nursing experience are preferred; this is an onsite, full-time role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience in clinical area preferred.
• Behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards in an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical and behavioral health needs; develop and implement nursing care plans; educate clients and families; ensure client safety.
• Ongoing assessment of client status; communicate findings to providers timely.
• Ensure treatment plans are tailored; complete initial plan on admission.
• Transcribe orders accurately; verify elements per policy and procedures.
• Administer medications with two identifiers; monitor effects of PRN meds.
• Notify providers of significant changes in status or emergencies.
• Maintain documentation of medication administration and narcotics control.
• Complete admission/discharge processes efficiently and accurately.
• Regularly confer with treatment team; participate in unit activities.
• Provide education on medication use, side effects, and patient rights.
• Monitor acuity and staffing; escalate coverage needs as needed.
• Maintain thorough shift documentation and hand-off reports.
