Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care and lead nursing activities at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. The role includes supervising ancillary staff, coordinating discharge planning, and teaching patients and families across life stages.

Night shifts with 12-hour schedules are involved, and union support is provided. The position requires RI RN licensure; a BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

Rhode Island RN license is required.
Baccalaureate in Nursing is preferred.
Ability to provide age-appropriate care across lifespan with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care.
Leads by delegating, supervising and ensuring safe nursing care by staff.
Evaluates care effectiveness and identifies improvement opportunities.
Collaborates with healthcare team, patient, family and community services for discharge planning.
Provides teaching to patient and family as needed.
Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
Uses resources to deliver quality, cost-effective care.
Maintains clinical competencies per credentialing standards and BLS/ACLS/PALS as appropriate.
Acts as a role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
