Job summary

Brown University Health in Rhode Island Hospital seeks a registered nurse to provide direct patient care under clinical supervision. The role includes leadership, teaching, and discharge planning across patient life spans and cultural contexts.

The ideal candidate holds RI RN licensure, a BSN (preferred), and demonstrates maturity in aging care, teamwork, and continuous professional development. Night shifts with weekend requirements are included.

Qualifications

• Rhode Island RN licensure required.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of aging processes, life-span development, and cultural patterns in care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Leads by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with healthcare team, patient, family and community on discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research.
• Uses resources to provide quality, cost-effective care.
• Maintains clinical competencies via credentialing, safety education and BLS/ACLS/PALS.
• Identifies growth needs and participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
• Serves as role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
