Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patients on mechanical ventilation and provide cardiopulmonary care in a high-acuity setting. This role involves collaboration with physicians and anesthesia during procedures, and adherence to department protocols for bronchodilator therapy and chest physiotherapy.

The position requires an MA respiratory license, NBRC RRT credential, and an Associate's degree in Respiratory Care.

Qualifications

• Critical Care experience, technical and computer skills.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist as a condition of employment/termination of employment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Assist during intubations and bronchoscopies.
• Establish treatment plans and modify therapy according to department protocols.
• Obtain arterial blood gases and perform blood draws for gas analysis.
• Set up and monitor equipment for ventilatory support and oxygen delivery.
• Coordinate and maintain difficult airway carts and participate on the code airway team.
• May perform resting and trending pulse oximetry.
