Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 12x3 night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM, delivering respiratory care to adults and neonates. Responsibilities include ventilator support, ABG analyses, and comprehensive patient assessments under departmental policies.

The role requires Texas licensure and NBRC registration. Applicants must have an accredited Respiratory Care Program graduate status, BLS/ACLS, and within one year obtain NRP and PALS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Texas in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics: oxygen, aerosol therapy, humidity therapy, chest physiotherapy and ventilation support.
• Performs arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry and pulmonary function testing.
• Prepares bedside respiratory evaluations including interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to decide appropriate actions and interpretations (CXR, ABG, PFTs).
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CPAP/BiPAP and related equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment.
