Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide adult and neonatal respiratory care, including ventilator support, ABG, and PFTs, under indirect supervision.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program with active BLS and ACLS, NBRC registration, and Texas licensure; NRP/PALS must be obtained within a year. 6 months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation based on bedside respiratory physical assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Must use critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas analyzers.
• Contributes to infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.
