Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Mount Clemens, MI, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide care for emergency, ICU, and pulmonary patients. You will monitor equipment, educate patients, and contribute to quality improvement; interpret tests and collaborate on treatment plans.

Required credentials include an Associate degree, state licensure, NBRC RRT, and BLS. Schedule is full-time with 6:30pm–7:00am shifts; on-site hospital setting with diverse patient care responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current respiratory therapist licensure in the state.
• RRT credential with NBRC; if not held, must obtain within 60 days of hire.
• BLS certification required before start date and valid for 60+ days.

Responsibilities

• Interview, examine, and assess patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Consult with physicians to develop patient treatment plans and therapies.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as lung capacity, blood draws, and blood gas analysis.
• Treat patients using chest physiotherapy, aerosols, CPAP/BIPAP, and ventilators when needed.
• Monitor and record progress of treatments.
• Instruct and supervise respiratory therapy interns during rotations.
• Educate patients on how to use therapies.
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment; assist in equipment evaluation.
• Maintain knowledge through workshops and publications; participate in training programs.
• Support department quality assurance and policy development to improve processes.
• Maintain documentation in paper and electronic formats; perform related duties as required.

Education

Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy

Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) NBRC

BLS certification (AHA/ARC or equivalent)
