Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care in emergency, ICU and therapeutic settings. You will monitor, assess, and treat patients with pulmonary disorders, perform diagnostics, and educate patients and interns.

The role includes night shifts and on-site duties at our Pontiac campus. Required credentials include an associate degree from a CAAHEP-accredited program, NBRC RRT, state licensure, and BLS; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
• Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC RRT) credential.
• BLS certification is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, examines and assesses patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Consults with physicians to develop patient treatment plans and therapy programs.
• Performs diagnostic tests like spirometry and blood gas analysis.
• Administers chest physiotherapy, aerosol meds, CPAP and BiPAP therapies; ventilator care as needed.
• Monitors and records treatment progression.
• Instructs and supervises respiratory therapy interns during clinical rotations.
• Teaches patients how to use treatments.
• Operates and maintains respiratory equipment; assists in equipment review.
• Maintains documentation in paper and electronic formats; contributes to QA activities.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

CAAHEP-accredited Respiratory Therapist program

NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist

BLS certification

Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
