Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory care for adults and neonates. You will perform ABG, PFT, ventilator support, oxygen therapy and airway management under indirect supervision, following department policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical record.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT results when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots respiratory equipment (airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate patient scripting to support patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Education

Graduated from an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — within 1 year of hire

Texas Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
