Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year nursing program at an accredited school.
• 1+ year of nursing experience preferred in relevant areas.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• PALS certification preferred for Emergency Department roles.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on the patient's presentation.
• Record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served.
• Conduct ongoing assessments as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient's response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
• Communicate expected outcomes to the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.
