Job summary

Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Support professional to handle daily communications with customers via phone and email and to manage train crew work activities under the Manager on Duty. The role focuses on accurate inventory reporting, billing resolution, and cross-railroad coordination.

The position emphasizes teamwork, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or communication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily communications with internal and external customers via phone, email and other channels.
• Manages CSS inventory through the management system to ensure accurate reporting of car movement and waybills.
• Investigates billing discrepancies and follows through to resolve items.
• Prepares and lines-up work activities of train crews as directed by the Manager on Duty.
• Coordinates with connecting railroads to order foreign railcars to support customer needs.
• Performs daily audits on inventory and interchanges to ensure correct charges.
