Job summary

Independent Stave Company seeks a Night Shift Production Supervisor to oversee the production line for white oak barrels at the Morehead Mill. You will create daily work schedules, monitor operations, and ensure product specs and targets are met.

You will resolve production issues, train on new processes, onboard new employees, and review daily records to spot trends or performance issues. Expect training on day shift before night shift transfer.

Qualifications

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in production or manufacturing operations; knowledge of process optimization is a plus.
• Familiarity with safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to manage performance and understand KPI metrics.
• Experience in supervision, staffing, and scheduling.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and inspire team members and coworkers.
• Self-motivated with strong leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage plant or shift production workers.
• Direct and coordinate departmental or shift production activities, ensuring staff are scheduled to operate the line.
• Supervise adherence to all plant safety rules and regulations and provide safety orientation and training for employees.
• Enforce compliance with safety standards.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Oversee employee development and conduct annual performance reviews.
• Document incidents, disciplinary actions, and accident/injury reports when necessary.
• Assist in the development of job procedures.
• Inspect materials and collaborate with the Quality Team to address quality defects.
• Assist in training new team members by developing a training plan for all production positions and ensuring that employees are properly trained.
