Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Pre Analytical Technician in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory – Hyde Park. This 100% onsite role supports specimen receipt, pre-analytic processing, and QA activities to ensure accurate results for physicians and patients.

You’ll perform phlebotomy, specimen prep, storage, and clerical tasks, with a night shift (11:00pm–7:30am) Tuesday–Saturday, based at the Hyde Park campus. Sign-on bonus eligible up to $1,500.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge and ability to use laboratory and hospital information systems.
• Knowledge and ability to use automated and conventional laboratory equipment.
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with individuals at all levels.
• Associate Degree in Science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens submitted to laboratory.
• Accessioning, labeling, and ordering tasks for accurate identification and billing.
• Determine specimen acceptability and storage for delayed analysis.
• Prepare specimens via centrifugation, aliquotting, and packaging for analysis.
• Perform phlebotomy duties and assist in bone marrow procedures as needed.
• Provide patient-focused care and answer inquiries regarding handling and results.
