Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL seeks a Medical Technologist for our Clinical Hematology Laboratory. 100% onsite in the Hyde Park area.

You will perform a wide range of analyses using various methodologies and instrumentation, complying with CLIA rules and lab policies to deliver high-quality results to physicians and patients. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or related field, ASCP MT certification or eligibility, experience with automated analyzers and LIS,

Qualifications

• Must satisfy CLIA '88 qualification requirements for high complexity testing.
• Certification or eligibility as medical technologist (MT) through ASCP or equivalent.
• Knowledge of automated and conventional laboratory testing methodologies.
• Proficiency using laboratory information systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail mandatory.
• Ability to work in high-volume, stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens submitted to laboratory.
• Prepares specimens through centrifugation, aliquotting and distribution to sections.
• Performs high-complexity testing per CLIA'88 guidelines.
• Maintains equipment, quality controls, and safety procedures.
• Prepares and maintains reagents, standards, and control materials.
• Analyzes test results and quality control for accuracy before reporting.
• Documents troubleshooting and communicates with staff as needed.
