Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform venipunctures and manage specimen collection across inpatient and outpatient populations. You will register specimens in LIS, prepare barcodes, and monitor workflow in a busy laboratory setting.

The role requires dexterity, adherence to procedures, and strong communication with lab clients. Experience with SunQuest and Epic is preferred; night/overnight shifts on a rotating weekend schedule are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; ASCP certification eligible preferred.
• Experience with SunQuest and Epic software systems.
• Dexterity sufficient to manipulate instrumentation and read procedures.
• Ability to communicate with laboratory clients and perform data entry.

Responsibilities

• Lab Registration: registers and orders specimens into LIS.
• Specimen Collection: perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients.
• Specimen Processing/Send-Outs: prepare and send specimens to reference laboratories.
• Microbiology: maintain inventory and accurate records; monitor workflow.
