Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown seeks an Operations Pharmacy Technician I to support unit-dose medication preparation, delivery, and inventory control under pharmacist supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, state licensure for pharmacy technicians, and up to six months of experience. Night shift hours are 38 per week, with duties including labeling, patient communication, and compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Equivalent.
• Six months of pharmacy technician experience.
• Associates degree OR Post high school education in a science field OR graduate of a pharmacy technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unit-dose medications, deliver medications, and order and deliver drug supplies.
• Read physician orders/prescriptions and prepare medications for dispensing, including pediatric/geriatric forms.
• Understand standard pharmaceutical terms, abbreviations and symbols used in prescribing/dispensing medications.
• Communicate with patients or caregivers to determine medication, medication possession, and delivery arrangements.
• Accurately prepare and/or deliver controlled substances and maintain records.
• Take inventory and replace outdated or deteriorated medications; replenish inventory.
• Prepare and label non-parenteral medications for pediatric patients.
• Label parenteral/Prescription products appropriately.
• Perform arithmetic calculations for usual dosage determinations.
• Prepare and label prepackaged medications and maintain related records.
• Maintain inventory in assigned pharmacy areas.
