Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and required licensure by state board.
• Pharmacy Technician permit/license for the state of practice.
• National certification or 2+ years of pharmacy experience within 15 months.

Responsibilities

• Reads physician orders, prepares medications, delivers medications and orders supplies.
• Prepares and dispenses medications, including unique dosage forms for all patients.
• Maintains understanding of standard pharmaceutical terms and abbreviations.
• Replenishes patient medications and delivers to care areas per schedule.
• Delivers controlled substances and maintains required records.
• Manages inventory, replaces depleted items, and maintains records.
• Labels products and performs dosage calculations for preparations.
• Prepares prepackaged medications and maintains related records.
• Maintains pharmacy service areas and drug storage cleanliness.
• Assists in training pharmacy technicians.
• Assists with sterile IV preparation and general IV room maintenance.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures using aseptic technique and records entries.
• Manages controlled substances within the health system.
