Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Medicine Unit 4 - Progressive Ventilator Support Unit (PVSU). This full-time night-shift role (7:00 pm–7:00 am) involves caring for patients on ventilators, monitoring vitals, assisting with daily living activities, and performing phlebotomy and EKG testing under RN supervision.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• One year of health care experience preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care and supports activities of daily living.
• Monitors vital signs, mobility and ambulation.
• Performs phlebotomy, point of care testing and EKG testing.
• Performs peripheral IV removal and specimen collection.
• Foley catheter insertion and removal.
• Reports changes in patient condition to RN/medical staff in a timely manner.
