Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for Medicine Unit 4 - Progressive Ventilator Support Unit (PVSU). This full-time, night shift role offers 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am with rotating weekends in Norfolk, VA.

The PCT will provide direct patient care, monitor vitals, assist with activities of daily living, venipuncture, specimen collection, EKGs, and Foley catheter care under RN supervision in a ventilator-dependent unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• One of the following certifications is required: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT or RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
• Perform point-of-care testing, EKG, and peripheral IV removal.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal while following safety protocols.
