Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Progressive Ventilator Support Unit (PVSU) in Norfolk, VA. This full-time night shift role runs 7:00 PM–7:00 AM with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.

The PCT will provide bedside care, monitor vitals, assist with activities of daily living, and support the rehab-focused PVSU unit under RN supervision. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and either a CNA/NCMA/NCPCT, Navy hospital corps

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required with one of the listed certifications
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
• One year of health care experience preferred
• Experience as a Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant within last three years

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living
• Monitor vital signs and mobility; assist with ambulation
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing; collect specimens
• Remove/insert Foley catheters and peripheral IVs as directed
• Observe and document patient conditions; report changes to nurses
• Maintain patient safety under RN supervision
