Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Surgical/Oncology unit on a full-time night schedule. The PCT provides patient-centered care under RN/LPN supervision, assisting with daily living activities and maintaining a safe, organized care environment.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, assisting with meals and hygiene, mobility, sample collection, glucose monitoring, and effective communication with the care team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred.
• BCLS within 90 days of hire required.
• CNA or CPCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff with delegated basic patient care and maintains a safe, organized environment.
• Collects and records vital signs, intake/output, and reports findings to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Supports with meals, bathing, grooming, linen changes, and elimination needs.
• Assists with patient mobility and positioning using mobility aids.
• Collects urine/stool samples and performs glucose monitoring as directed.
• Communicates patient information clearly to the care team.
• Maintains infection control practices and proper PPE usage.
• Participates in performance improvement and risk management activities.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
