Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is hiring for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) full-time, 36 hours/week, with a 12-hour night shift (6:30p–7:00a) in the 5H Surgical department. Entry of UAP ladder may offer PCA or CNA/PCT progression based on experience.

Training and certifications are required within specified timelines. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and teamwork to provide compassionate patient care; Mercy offers extensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role with 175-hour training within 90 days.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).
• Required Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPCT or enrolled in healthcare career program; age 18+ and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program.
• Certifications: BLS required within one month; PCT competencies within 3 months.
• Preferred Certifications: CNA, EMT, AUA, CPCT.
• Other: Physical requirements include lifting 50 pounds, standing/walking, and mobility tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under RN/LPN direction to promote wellness.
• Work cooperatively as part of a team and support patient care goals.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to patient care.
