Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital at NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses in caring for patients on the LOH unit. The role emphasizes safe, compassionate patient care, equipment and environment maintenance, and adherence to core values.

Responsibilities include assisting with data collection for quality improvement, responding to patient requests promptly, and supporting unit operations while maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a PCT program w/ at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA graduate plus course in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible + 6 months hospital experience.
• PCT Certification through NHA w/ at least 6 months hospital experience or equivalent.
• BLS/Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required upon entry to position.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional nurse in patient care tasks with safe, compassionate care.
• Maintains patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
• Supports supplies, equipment and environmental safety on the unit.
• Participates in unit quality and performance improvement activities.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and health care team.
