Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician (13N) for Night shifts in Chicago. The role supports the Registered Nurse with direct and indirect patient care on a Medical Oncology/Gynecology unit, with 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE) and hourly compensation up to USD 24.26.

Requirements include CNA certification or nursing student status, BLS CPR, health and safety training, and capability in glucose monitoring.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing who has successfully completed basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum of 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• High school diploma required. One year of college or nursing education or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a health care setting preferred with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, family, nursing and medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN with direct and indirect patient care.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Record vitals and basic observations for patients.
• Transport patients and supplies as needed on the unit.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized patient care area.
• Respond to patient call lights and emergencies promptly.
