Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Palos Heights, IL seeks a part-time Patient Care Tech to support RN-led patient care on the night shift. You’ll perform routine nursing tasks, monitor vital signs, assist with personal care, and maintain a clean, efficient unit.

Responsibilities include prioritizing tasks, reporting changes, handling communications with staff and families, and helping with admissions/discharges as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Monitors vital signs, measures blood glucose, records intake and output.
• Assists with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritizes tasks and manages unit workflow with RN/manager.
• Answers calls politely and relays information to staff, family, or patient.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Supports census and admission/discharge processes as needed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed
